As Valentine’s Day approaches, the Max February 2025 list of new arrivals has got all the couples covered. The hottest arrival of the month is The White Lotus Season 3, premiering on February 16, 2025. The third season of the HBO original series takes place at the Thailand branch of the titular luxury resort, bringing a more Eastern influence to these next 8 episodes written and directed by series creator Mike White. The stacked cast includes Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, and Natasha Rothwell, who returns from the first season. However, Emmy-winner Jennifer Coolidge will be dearly missed as her character, TanyaMcQuoid, met her demise at the end of last season.
Next up, A24’s smash hit We Live in Time joins the Max streaming library on February 7, 2025. Known for its non-linear narrative, We Live in Time pairs A-listers Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh together as a loving British couple who are struck by tragedy. Directed by John Crowley (Brooklyn), We Live in Time has garnered considerable praise for the firey chemistry shared between the leads, as well as its novel narrative technique. Most importantly, it’s the perfect Max film for couples to binge together in the season of love. Just be prepared with a few boxes of tissues.
Of course, Max will be the streaming home of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Season 12 in February 2025. The irreverent political commentary/comedy series is known for its incisive takes on current events. Leading with sharp wit, host John Oliver will have a lot to work with in these tumultuous times. Even if you don’t tune into the HBO show when it kicks off on February 16, 2025, it’s almost inevitable that clips of Oliver’s riffing on the topics of the week will go viral online shortly after.Additionally, Max will be the new streaming home of the proshoot of the hit Broadway musicalWaitress, which arrives on February 14, 2025.
Although not a Max original film, Elevation, starring Captain America himself, Anthony Mackie, is making its way to the streaming service on February 21, 2025. Elevation boasts a hell of a premise. In a world where humans can only live 8,000 feet above sea level due to man-eating monsters that lurk below, a father named Will (Mackie) must venture down to save his son with the assistance of a scientist, Nina (Morena Baccarin), who might hold the secret to saving humanity. Elevation is the type of creature feature that’s primed to find new life on a streaming giant like Max. Considering Captain America: Brave New World is on the verge of hitting theaters, the timing also couldn’t be better.
Notably, several new documentary programs are debuting on the Max streaming platform this month. The first is the Max original series The Takedown: American Aryans, which follows the rise of the Aryan Brotherhood in Texas and the ATF’s attempts to take them down. The harrowing streaming series will be available in full on February 6, 2025. The next is We Beat the Dream Team, an HBO Sports/TNT Sports collaboration about a group of college athletes who are hired to train up star basketball players ahead of the 1992 Olympics. Max subscribers can catch that movie starting on February 18, 2025.
Last but not least for documentaries is HBO’s continuation of a classic civil rights-centered series, Eyes on the Prize III: We Who Believe in Freedom Cannot Rest, which debuts on February 25, 2025. While that’s mostly it for original films and TV shows, the streamer will have a ton of familiar favorites curated for Valentine’s Day. For the hopeless romantics, 2018’s A Star is Born, Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name, and The Notebook, starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, are excellent picks. Looking for something steamy with more than a dash of comedy? Then stream older favorites like He’s Just Not That Into You or Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Max subscribers looking to avoid Valentine’s Day content altogether can dive into the entire Final Destination horror franchise, especially since the sixth installment, Final Destination: Bloodlines, is coming to theaters this summer. On a similar note, moviegoers excited for Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson, can now stream his revered Korean monster flick, The Host, on Max this month, too. Other classic additions to the Max streaming service in February 2025 include Spike Lee’s Malcolm X, Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver, and Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
